Dear neighbors, On Thursday morning, February 27th, Austin City Council will consider adopting to the ordinances and licensing provision that govern Short-term-rentals (STRs) in Austin. Agenda Items 39, 40 and 41 The Old West Austin Neighborhood Association supports short-term rentals for owners who live on-site. The current changes to the ordinance do not address the city’s housing crisis, which requires housing, not potentially more short-term rentals. We are for more opportunities for people to actually live here and raise a family, and we support housing opportunities for those who work in our community. We are striving to create a neighborhood that builds true community, and we share the Mayor’s vision of Austin being a livable city for adults and children. If you would like to offer your input to City Council on these proposed changes, please read the information below. Details about the proposed changes and Resources can also be found below as well. Thank you! THINGS YOU CAN DO! Write to our Council member to urge postponement and/or needed change: Zo.Qadri@austintexas.gov or call Anna Muckelroy, CM Zo’s Community Outreach Director at 512-978-2109.
