July 4th Parade and Celebration!

JULY 4TH PARADE AND CELEBRATION AT THE WEST AUSTIN PARK!

OWANA will once again be hosting a neighborhood 4th of July parade and celebration, and we hope you can join us! Here are the details:

When: Thursday, July 4th, between 8:50 to 9:29 am if participating in parade: ALL ARE WELCOME! Parade starts promptly at 9:30 am, celebration from 9:30 am to 11:30 am!

Where: Meet at the Fire Station at 1000 Blanco St. (10th Street and Blanco) and stroll/drive/wave your flags to the West Austin Neighborhood Park at 1317 W 10th St.!

What: DECORATE YOUR CARS, BIKES, STROLLERS, PETS OR YOURSELVES AND WAVE YOUR FLAGS!  Drive, ride, stroll or walk and wave your flag from Blanco St. to West Austin Neighborhood Park (don’t worry-its a short walk) at 1317 W 10th St. Blowcomotion Brass Band will lead the parade promptly at 9:30 am. Blowcomotion will play a few more songs at the park and then there will be a dance party with family friendly festive music, face painting and Jim-Jim’s Water-Ice until 11:30 am! Then cool off in the West Austin Pool at noon as it is scheduled to be open on the 4th of July from 12 pm to 7 pm!

See you there!

Hope to see you around 9 am if participating in parade! Parade starts promptly at 9:30am on July 4th!!!!! You can also view fireworks from downtown Austin starting at 9:30 pm from the hill at West Austin Park if you don’t wanna brave the traffic and parking!

 

West Austin Pool Open Tomorrow!!! Celebrate with Popsicles and a splash!

WEST AUSTIN POOL OPENS TOMORROW, JUNE 10TH FROM 1 PM TO 8 PM!!!!

OWANA will serve free popsicles and watermelon to help us cool off and celebrate the pool opening from 1-3 pm or until the treats are gone!!! Our neighborhood pool will be open from June 10, 2024 until August 11, 2024.

Starting tomorrow, West Austin Pool will be open daily from 1 pm to 8 pm but CLOSED WEDNESDAYS!

 WEDNESDAY JUNE 19TH, OPEN FROM 12 PM TO 7 PM

THURSDAY, JULY 4TH, OPEN 12 PM TO 7 PM

Reminder: Annual Easter Egg Hunt this Saturday March 30th 9am

What’s Happening: Annual Neighborhood Easter Egg Hunt!!!! Refreshments and breakfast treats!

When: Saturday, March 30th starting promptly at 9 am

Where: West Austin Neighborhood Park- 1317 W. 10th St.

Who: All are welcome!!!

What can I do to help:  Drop a dozen filled eggs to front porch of 1608 W. 9 1/2 St. or to 1417 W. 10th St.; bring some potluck breakfast treats like fruit, muffins or donuts to share with neighbors, or help hide eggs between 7:15 am to 8:30am!!! Your help and community involvement is appreciated!!! See you there!!

This meeting will be held at Matthews Elementary School in the Cafeteria at 7pm.

Where: West Austin Park : 1317 W. 10th St., Austin Texas 78703 near/next to dog park

What:   “It’s My Park Day” (austinparks.org  and westaustinpark.org for more info) at West Austin Park will be on Saturday, March 2, 2024 from 9 am to 12 pm. This is a great opportunity to volunteer and meet with neighbors to improve, maintain and beautify our park and prepare the gardens at West Austin Park. Our park is sure to look amazing this spring 2024 with your help. All are welcome and your community involvement and service is appreciated.

OWANA along with Astound Powered by Grande and Zydeco Development are excited to sponsor Live Music in West Austin Park on March 2, 2024 from 1 pm to 5 pm. Bring your blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy local live music and food TBA  while hanging out with neighbors, family and friends.

Pizza in the Park Tailgater on April 7,2023

Pizza in the West Austin Park Tailgater has changed to April 7 from 6pm – 8 pm. At this event, Friend Of West Austin Park (FOWAP)is sponsoring a casual “get to know your neighbors” in the northwest corner of the West Austin Park on Maufrais Street, future home of The Overlook. Join in for pizza, beverages and other goodies. Kids welcome.  So, mark your calendar for free pizza in the west Austin Park for April 7 from 6-8pm!

General Membership Meeting – Tuesday, March 7, 2023

A friendly reminder to mark your calendars  and invite your neighbors to the OWANA General Membership meeting on Tuesday, March 7, 2023 at 7 pm in the Mathews Elementary Cafeteria (please come at 6:30pm if you’d like to chat with your neighbors).  Find out what is happening this year so far in your neighborhood and invite other neighbors and businesses to join OWANA and get involved!

WEST AUSTIN NEIGHBORHOOD PARK FROM 9AM TIL NOON!

Caffeinate yourself, grab some work gloves and spend a morning in the park helping to spread mulch, maintain the flower beds, meet some neighbors, help beautify our lovely park etc. Thank you in advance to all you wonderful neighbors who dedicate your time and energy and green thumbs!!! Free t-shirt! Sign up here. Then, come back after a well deserved nap and bring your blanket and lawn chair for Live Music in the park from 2pm-6 pm.
